A sterling silver money clip in the form of a horse riding spur. This is the most rare of all of the Hermès money clips, and the most desirable. The other highly sort after one being the riding stirrup. However, this is more detailed, and of a higher quality overall design and finish. The item is comprised of the spur detail, and then a sprung clip where cards and cash can be kept.
The piece is fully hand signed Hermès and hallmarked along top and bottom of the spur. "Hermès" is engraved on the top and the French assay mark of the boar head for silver along with the poinçon, or the maker's mark lozenge, "GP" for Gaétan de Percin are stamped onto the underside of the spur. They were a principal workshop for Hermès jewellery in Paris for many years. It is also stamped "Made in France" on the inside edge of the spur. Please note this black Hermès box is not present, but an orange Hermès box is included. Condition is excellent throughout. Made in France, circa early 1960's.
